Summer Scene on the Plaza. The city’s free summer series is in full swing — live music some evenings, movies under the stars on others, all of it free and all of it downtown. Bring a blanket, grab a table, and let the night come to you. It’s the easiest good decision you’ll make all week.
Eat
The Shed — a downtown institution for a reason. The red chile is the stuff people fly back for, and the courtyard off Palace Avenue is the right kind of unhurried. Go early or expect a wait; both are worth it.
La Choza — The Shed’s more laid-back sibling near the Railyard, with a shaded patio built for a long lunch. Order the green chile, a margarita, and nowhere to be.
Do
Desert Chorale, in the Cathedral Basilica. Santa Fe’s acclaimed summer choir sings in some of the most beautiful rooms in town through July 30. Voices in that stone-and-candle acoustic is a genuine goosebumps moment — the kind of evening you’ll remember longer than you expect.
Saturday at the Railyard Farmers Market. Get there in the cool of the morning: green chile by the sack, ripe peaches, fresh tortillas, and half the city out doing the same. It’s the town at its friendliest.
Sunset up Atalaya. If you want to earn your dinner, the climb rewards you with the whole city going gold beneath the Sangres. Start late afternoon, bring water — the high desert doesn’t forgive a dry hike.

An evening on Canyon Road. Over a hundred galleries in a half-mile of adobe, doors open and easy to wander. You don’t need a plan or a budget — just walk it slowly as the light drops. This is Santa Fe showing off, quietly.

The Folk Art Market glow is still in the air after last weekend — a good moment to visit the Museum of International Folk Art up on Museum Hill while it’s top of mind. And keep an eye on the Plaza: something’s almost always happening there after dark this time of year.
